Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Reducing Dosage Of Ramipril Advisable In Patient With Variable BP?
My cardiologist is cutting back my dose of Ramipril from 10 mg in AM and 10 mg in PM. My B/P is variable with systolic sometimes in the 130 s, and sometimes in the 140 s, even as high as 160 s. I m concerned about the reduction, therefore when should I take the Rx for the most bang for the buck? is there any charge for answering my question? Thank you
Hi welcome to HCM, Since you have fluctuations in your Blood pressure you shouldnt have dose reduction of your Ramipril.Continue your BP medication regularly one at 8 AM after breakfast and 8PM after dinner.Exercise regularly for 20- 30 min.Take salt restricted, high protein diet.Monitor your BP regularly.check your BP after one week,if your BP still fluctuates then you should go for Ramipril -H by discussing with your cardiologist.Avoid stress and anxiety.Get investigations like ECG, 2D ECHO,lipid profile, complete blood picture, chest x ray as a part of screening of your heart.Report to your doctor if you have symptoms like headache, dizziness, accelerated BP.Consult your cardiologist for expert management. Thankyou.
