Is Recurring Intake Of Primolut N To Induce Periods Safe?

Hii doctor,
I am 28years old. I am unmarried. My periods got delayed by 4days. My monthly cycle is 11th every month. I am not active in any sexual activity. 2months back I started strict dieting and Zumba workout to loose weight. I use to weigh 75kgs. It's been 4momths now my weight is 67kgs. But since 2months I am regular with my dieting and exercise.
It happened for the first time after 1year. Delayed of periods. At that time doctor prescribed me Pimolut N tab. for 1week and I got my periods after 3-4 days.
But now, should I wait or should I take the same tablet and for how many days and how to take it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As a physician, I would like to tell you that you should wait for your periods to come naturally and restrict the use of primolut-N pills only under the guidance of a physician. Because it is a hormone and if you continue to take it repeatedly without any medical guidance there may be some side effects related to it.

I would also like to tell you that since you are dieting and following a weight loss schedule, there might be some changes in your hormone levels which might be the cause of your delayed periods. Give it some time and your body's rhythm will be back to normal after some days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Abhijeet Sangade
