Is Quinidine An Effective Medication For Brugada Syndrome And What Implication Does It Have On Future Health?

My 11 y.o. grandson has recently been diagnosed with brugada syndrome. Is quinidine an effective medication for this and what implications does this diagnoses have for his future health. Also what is the incidence of genetic transmission of this condition.

Brugada syndrome is a hereditary disease.It is an autosomal dominant condition.Definitely it runs in families.
If one of the two parents is affected, each child (both males and females) has a 50% chance of inheriting the disease.
Quinidine is a Class Ia antiarrhythmic drug.It is definitely effective in this condition for decreasing VF(ventricullar fibrillation) episodes occurring in this syndrome, because,the cause of death in Brugada syndrome is ventricular fibrillation.
But the definitive treatment is implantation of an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD), which continuously monitors the heart rhythm and will defibrillate an individual if ventricular fibrillation is noted.
