Is Pus Discharge From Rash A Sign Of Worsening Infection?
I have developed a rash on the lower part of my stomach, I've been told by doctors before that its eczema. I've been applying lotion to it for the last couple days and it has stopped being dry and rough. The lotion also temporarily relieve the itch. However, now I noticed that it is starting to leak puss. Is this a sign that it is getting worse?
Seems to have developed secondary bacterial infection secondary to scratching/itching.
I would advice that you get a prescription for an oral antibiotic (penicillin group e.g Amoxycillin ) for a week.
An OTC antibacterial ointment e,g 2% mupirocin twice daily can be used for a week till the infection settles down.
An OTC antihistamine e.g cetrizine once daily would help you with symptomatic itch control.
I would advice that you see a dermatologist for a confirmatory diagnosis as to the exact cause of eczema.
