Is Pregnancy The Reason For The Delay In Periods?

Hi, I am 46 and was put on progynova 2mg by my doc as part of my ivf cycle. After discovering a cyst in my final scan I was put on something else to induce my period. Period started on the sixth day, and it was a normal period. This was on 25 June. I have a 26 day cycle and no period yet. Could I be pregnant?

Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Would you let me know when was the IVF done - as in, when was the actual embryo transfer done.
Also, if you have missed your cycle, yes, it could be due to pregnancy.
That seems to be the most logical possibility, if you had IVF done in the interim period.
Also, there could be other causes, but pregnancy is the first to be ruled out.
STress, anxiety, weight gain, hypothyroidism, PCOS are just some of the causes, apart from perimenopause.
Please take a blood pregnancy test if you have missed your period.
That will put your mind at ease.
A urine pregnancy test is less reliable considering the expensive treatment undergone and the stress involved.
So please take a blood B HCG test.
All the best.
Take care.

Hello,
If you are delayed, then wait at least a week before you test for pregnancy. At this age, pregnancy can of course delay your period. But so can peri-menopausal symptoms.
