Is Pregnancy Possible Post Unprotected Sex While On Treatment For Ectopic Pregnancy?
Hello. I had an ectopic pregnancy so my doctor gave me one shot of Methotrexate.. on the beggining my hcg was 215 then after 3 days decreased .. i went to the clinic after 7 days and my hcg was 32. I started feeling well. Few days after I started bleeding which is normal. But the problem is I had unprotected intercourse which shouldnt happen during the treatment. Im scared that I might be pregnant again. Is it possible? I went to my doctor today for last hcg and is negative but i still have cramps and I feel like Im about to throw up. Please help! thank you!
Hi i did review your concern. As the scenario described by you, pregnancy is still possible since you were not on any contraceptives. Methotrexate is a tissue destroyer and not a contraceptive and it cannot prevent fertilization although it potentially can destroy the newly formed zygote if thats the case. Although your nausea and cramps can be attributed to treatment I would advice you to get a Beta hcg done after 6-8 days as well as an ultrasound of pelvis and rule pregnancy out 100%. I hope this helps Wish you healthy life ahead.
