Doctor. I am so worried about my condition. I had an unprotected sex with my boyfriend and after 6days I took trust pill. Now I am delayed in my menstruation. I am afraid if i am pregnant because we already have a daughter 2years of age. Is the trust pill not effective? Though i dont feel the signs and symptoms of pregnancy. Am i pregnan doc?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I have read your description and understand your concern. Trust Pill contains Ethinyl estradiol, levonorgestrel and ferrous fumarate. It is a regular contraceptive pill, which can be also used to treat other conditions like dysmenorrhea and premenstrual syndrome. It is not an emergency contraceptive (morning - after) pill. Also, even if you would have taken emergency contraceptive pill, it should have been taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. Hence, the pill you have taken does not have any possibility in preventing pregnancy. Now, since your periods are delayed, it would be advisable to take urine pregnancy test, check the blood levels of beta hCG and undertake ultrasound scan of the abdomen to assess the present status. Kindly consult Gynaecologist with the report for clinical evaluation and management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
