Is Pregnancy Possible Despite Being On Birth Control Pills?

I had sex on the 6th and 7th of January and took an ipill on the 8th.
Yesterday I start bleeding, but it's not like my period blood. It's not dense and smells different. And it won't stop till today. I feel lower abdominal pain. Should I be worried? Are there chances of Mr getting pregnant?

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

No pregnancy chance after intake of I pill is less & its intake should be able to prevent pregnancy. However, There is no contraception method in this world which is 100% effective. The bleeding you had must be breakthrough bleeding & this type of bleeding normally occurs after intake of an emergency contraceptive pill. Breakthrough bleeding most probably means intake of I pill was succesful in preventing pregnancy.
I pill is an emergency contraceptive pill & it prevents pregnancy by inhibiting implantation of fertilized egg on the uterus. I pills should be taken as soon as possible after sex.
It is 95% successful if taken within 24 hours of having sex. Success of pills decreases to 70% if taken 24-72 days of having sex. Next time use condom or regular contraceptive pill as method of contraception in future. They have better success rate & have fewer side effects also.

Do a pregnancy test if you miss your next period, to rule-out possibility of pregnancy. If your next period come then you should not worry.

Refer to a gynaecologist
Hope this information helps
Good luck
