Is Pregnancy Possible After Taking Levonorgestrel Tablet?

Dear Dr. i had ond hn protected sex with my GF. befor orgasm i found out the condom had broken so i removed my penis immediately. after that she washet vaginas and took a 1.5 levogernestrol table. she was on 6 days after menses. till now she hasn t gotten mense. is it possible to her to got pregnant?

Hello!
Firstly, taking an emergency contraceptive pill can help prevent the chances of pregnancy in about 80% of the times. It may also be associated with various side effects like delaying the period, early/ late period, unexplained bleeding, andominal cramps, nausea, etc. Usually, a week before and after the period is considered safe and the chances of pregnancy with intercourse during this time is very low. The 9th day to the 21st day of the cycle is considered to be fertile period and the chances of pregnacy are high during this time and should be avoided. Also, in case of any delayed/missed period, the chances of pregnancy have to be excluded and is advisable to take a urine pregnancy test with an early morning sample of urine about a week after the missed period. If the test returns negative repeat after a week and if it is still negative, there may not be any chances of pregnancy and could be a side effect of levonorgestrel. Hope this helps.
