Thank you for your question. I am delighted to be of assistance to you.
The first question is very easy.
Appendix surgery, even if it was a ruptured appendix, several years ago, should not interfere with
pregnancy. There may be a slightly increased risk of ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy implanted in the tube and ovary) on the right side, but this is a low risk.
The second question may be more complicated because I do not know why you are asking. So I will give you answers for why you might be asking.
If you are asking about being able to have a baby just because of the appendix surgery, you should have the same chances of pregnancy as anyone else. If you are asking about losing weight because you are
overweight, losing weight can be helpful, and can get your chances of pregnancy back close to the same as others.
You did mention taking the birth control pills so that your period can be normal. Frequently young women have very
irregular periods in the first few years and then they become more regular. It is harder to become pregnant with irregular periods, but as the periods become more regular it is easier again. Overweight increases the chances that the periods will be irregular, so again, losing weight does help increase the chances of having a baby.
To answer the other question - is pregnancy advisable after
appendicitis surgery? Yes. When it is right for you, you can start to try to become pregnant. As an old doctor, I would say take your time, let your body get ready, lose weight if you feel more comfortable. But you should be able to have a healthy pregnancy.
Please take good care of yourself.
