I had a baby 4 weeks ago, the second week I was home I developed a fever and had the chills. It was 75 degrees outside and I had to wear pants and a sweatshirt or I would get cold. I called the doctors and they said if I think I need to be seen to come in I might have an infection. The fever went away with tylenol and It went away altogether about 3 days later. I didn't go in because they didn't seem concerned. The past couple days I have gotten really lightheaded while standing up. Last night I noticed (4 weeks postpartum) when I get up to feed the baby and Im sitting there feeding him I get a pain in my upper stomach and in my ribs. Kind of like an aching pain that gets worse the longer I sit there. Today I am experiencing a weird feeling in the back of my throat. I can take deep breaths but I feel like my throat might be swollen and it feels dry when I breath in.
I thought maybe did develop an infection and it has changed to pneumonia. Could that be possible?
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic. I can understand your concern. By your history and description, possibility of viral upper respiratory tract infection (URTI) is more. But better to rule out pneumonia because you are having fever and Chest pain. So get done chest x ray to rule out pneumonia. If chest x ray is normal then no need to worry for pneumonia. Viral URTI is more in your case. So drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated. Avoid oily and spicy food. Avoid hard to chew food. Do warm water gargles 5-6 times a day. Start antihistamine and anti inflammatory drugs. Don't worry, you will be alright. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
