Is Pneumonia A Contagious Disease?

Hi I m recovering from pneumonia at my home I don t know if it s viral or bacterial, however I didn t have unusual coughing , I went to DR due to pain in my back and was having trouble breathing also fever. My questions are can I go swimming,hot tub or jacuzzi, public places? Am I contagious or more at risk of compromising my immune system? I m taking Avelox (only 2days left) and Inhaler Can t remember name.

Thanks for your question on HCM.
Pneumonia is airborne infection.
Organism gets entry through inspiration and settles bin alveoli (lung) and cause infection. It is known as pneumonia.
So it is advisable to stay at home for atleast 2-3 weeks after pneumonia. This is to prevent more infection.
Pneumonia spreads by droplet infection. When patient coughs or sneezes infected droplets are being discharged in the environment and these can inhale by normal persons and than they can develop pneumonia.
So it is better to avoid swimming or public place visit for atleast 2-3 weeks after pneumonia.
This will be helpful to you as well as the community. You can also use mask.
