Is Playing With Proper Conditioning And Knee Braces After Repair Of Lateral Meniscus Safe?

My son tore his lateral meniscus when he was 11 and had it repaired. He tore it again when we has 13 and this time it was not repairable and had to be removed. The Dr said that it looked like it didn t heal properly from the 1st surgery. We asked about playing football and the Dr said he can play all sports but he does not recommend running Cross Country or Long Distance Running. He decided he would not play football and try golf instead. Now at 15 he is considering playing football after sitting out for 2 years. He is now 6 2 and 240 and he grew really fast for age 10 to 13 which caused Heel Pain and Osgood Sclatters. Would it be safe for him to play football with proper conditioning and knee braces?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi
You may consult a knee surgeon- it may not be advisable for football or running as your doctor suggested and braces may be a support during aa walk but not sufficiently protective for running/football
