Is Placing PEG Tube Advisable Before Having A Chemotherapy For Tongue Cancer?

My husband has been diagnosed with base of tongue cancer and will start chemoradiation next week. The oncologist has ordered that PEG tube be inserted because he may not be able to get enough nutrition once treatment begins. I m very concerned about this procedure and wonder how long it will have to be in place after radiation and chemo is finished

PEG tube to be placed until he become healthy like before.. after completion of chemo and radiotherapy.
