Is Odor From Wounds Post Skin Tag Removal Around Rectum Normal?

I m six weeks post-op from skin tag removal around rectum. Two days ago, noticed wound smells. They ve mostly healed. No other symptoms, keeping clean and doing sitz baths. No fever, pain, etc. wondering if this is just normal healing. There is still a little drainage but it s decreasing everyday.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Abnormal odor is not normal part of healing especially at this stage. It may indicate infection but most infections would be associated with additional changes/symptoms such as swelling, fever, tenderness, increasing discharge etc

If it continues you may need to see your doctor for assessment. In meantime, you may want to consider the use of an antiseptic twice daily.

I hope this helps
