Is Normal Pregnancy Possible If Having PCOS?

Hello Doctors, I am Sampada Mhatre, from Mumbai.. My age is 25 yrs, height - 5feet 2inches, weighing 83 Kgs. I am suffering from PCOS since past 3 years ie. from Jan 2009. I got married in Dec 2008. I have Ovarian Cysts which are causing a delay in my periods.. i get them every 3 months or sometimes even after 6 months. The hormonal Imbalance is making me wild and sometimes i cry for no reason and feel depressed even on happy occasions. I am unable to lose weight and am putting on kilos every month. I also dont have control over my eating and eat anytime when i have the craving. Have been on Gylcomet for more than a year and also on Semibrom (this pill caused me much problem and i used to feel drowsy and dizzy all the time..hence ve stopped taking them).I have been trying to conceive since past 3 years but all my efforts have been in vain. My Gynac had put me on 3 cycles of Letrozole ..but for the 1st 2 cycles i had no growth in the follicle..in the 3rd cycle i took 15 pills instead of 5pills and had on follicle that grew and ruptured on the 14th day.. we had alternate days intercourse. And on the 22nd day of my period..i had severe vomiting, migraine, swollen breasts and finally was admitted to the hospital. Since then i have not tried to conceive through medicines and have almost stopped taking all the pills. Now i want to conceive naturally.. can the doctors out here put some light on my case? Thanking you and awating your responses... Sampada :)

I have understood your problem Sampada. I feel you should concentrate at one goal at a time.
Have you got your Thyroid function test done? From your history and depressive moods, it seems, you may be having hypothyroidism. Please get it checked. If you are hypothyroidic, its treatment may help you to decrease your weight.
Then you concentrate on weight reduction. Here you have to take efforts in reducing the waist fat and intra-abdominal pelvic fat. Along with the exercises, you have to work up on your diet.
I would advice you more of the exercises in free air than exercises in Gym where you do not get sufficient oxygen. Please go for a walk twice a day. Let this walks be within half an hour of sunrise and one hour before sunset. You should walk for minimum 40 minutes at a stretch with 90 steps per minute.
In your diet you should avoid fats and consume more proteins. Avoid nibbling. Have small feeds every three hours. Avoid maida, sugar, vegetable hyderogenated fats like Dalda, etc.
Metformin support is definitely good to reduce your weight and also to increase the utilization of Insulin by the cells.
If the medicines are not working for the egg formation, you may ask your Gynaecologist whether drilling of ovaries laparoscopically is a considerable option.
I hope this will give you initial guidelines. For any further discussion, you may ask me direct question or contact me directly.
