Is Nausea, Breast Soreness, Vaginal Discharge, Abnormal Blood Sugar Levels A Pregnancy?

I am a type 1 diabetic. I take continuous birth control. I started feeling nausea in mid Feb, and throwing up once in a while. My breasts have been really sore. Almost everything I eat makes me ill, I use pepto bismol to ease the nausea. I have increased discharge. My blood sugars the last 5 weeks have started to go out of control, I'm checking every 1-2 hrs, and my blood sugar is either over 300 or under 60. I have started taking only 1-2 units of insulin at a time and check after an hour and taking more. 3 units took my blood sugar from 300 down to 53 in 30 min. Could I be pregnant? What other signs could I look for? I have also been spotting after sex, every time....

Hello, and I hope I can help you today.

Pregnancy symptoms vary widely between women, and symptoms such as bloating, breast tenderness, nausea, spotting and mood changes can also be side effects of the birth control pills.

However is is important to figure out if you are really pregnant and I recommend you purchase and perform an over-the-counter pregnancy test and follow the instructions with your first morning urine.

If you are not pregnant, the side effects of the pills may not be working for you and you should discuss changing your brand of pill with your own doctor.

I hope I was able to adequately answer your question today and that you feel better soon.

Best wishes,

Dr. Brown
