Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is My Urge To Vomit After Eating A Psychological Or Physical?
my brother has suffered from psychological vomiting due to which he has lost 20 kg weight we have already done the various tests such as ecdoscopy, city scan, gasteric report , brain scan all reports are normal but he is continously vomiting witjout any illness kindly giv us advise for proper treatment
I admire your positive outlook and congratulate you for the attitude.
Now I guess, he may have underline anxiety disorder and it could be due to some stress in his personal life. In that case, he needs some help
However let me give my opinion here.
I think a combination therapy of antidepressant and low benzodiazepine would help him. That would help to control anxiety symptoms as well as vomiting. He can try some relaxation exercise like JPMR or deep breathing exercise. That would keep him calm and relax.
I went through your details. I suggest you not to worry much. Sometimes the cause of nausea and vomiting is psychological. This doesn't mean the symptoms aren't real. A qualified clinical psychologist or psychiatrist can help. People who often make themselves vomit may have an eating disorder. This can be a life-threatening condition. If your brother eat a lot and then make himself vomit, he need professional help. Other possibility is obsessive behavior.
If you require more of my help in this aspect, Please post a direct question to me in this website. Make sure that you include every minute details possible. I shall prescribe the needed psychotherapy techniques which should help you cure your condition further.
Hope this answers your query. Available for further clarifications. Good luck.
