Is My Brother Suffering From Schizophrenia ?

Hi, I think my brother is sufferring from Schizophernia. He tells us that his office mates are conspiring against him and we (his family) are involved with them. He thinks we are doing it to either get hi better perform in office OR to marry. He is an engineer and was always very intelligent and now he is talking all non-sense. He now even says that entire neighbour is involved in this as well. Daily he tells new things. Kindly help

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi,
If your brother's accusations are not true, then he is having delusions (false beliefs), which is a feature of schizophrenia. Consult a psychiatrist as soon as possible for proper evaluation and treatment.
Convincing your brother to consult a psychiatrist can be tricky. If he does not agree, then you can probably talk to a local psychiatrist first and then get him to the doctor citing some other reason (like physical problem).

  User's Response
Hi
Welcome to HealthcareMagic.
It is possible that your brother has some psychiatric disorder. This can be a long term disease or a short attack of psychosis due to some stress.
I advise you to visit your Psychiatrist and let your brother express his thoughts to the doc.Clear history and discussion is compulsory to come to any diagnosis.

Big task for you is to convince your brother to visit Psychiatrist.
If you need more information feel free to mail me.
Take care
