Is Mucus Secretion In Diarrhoea Normal?

I had a tonsillectomy 10 days ago and i have excessive mucus in my throat, I've been spitting it up and its very thick. I also had my first bowl movement for the first time yesterday but it was diarrhea which was almost entirely mucus, and i was running to the bathroom about 10 times yesterday. Is this normal?

Hello,

According to your complain, you have problem of more mucus in stool present that one is not a normal. Gastrointestinal infection may cause more mucus in stool. Intestinal inflammation also causes this type of symptom. Consult a gastroenterologist for further diagnosis. Do a complete blood cell count to detect any infection present or not.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rachana Goswami
