Is Moderate Small Vessel Ischemic Disease A Concern In A Hypertensive Diabetic?

57 year old female. Went for CT scan because of persistent headaches after car accident, likely concussion. This showed white matter changes which led to having an MRI. Showing moderate small vessel ischemic disease, particularly likely if patient is chronically diabetic or hypertensive. I have high cholesterol (familial, I am not overweight) controlled by medications for almost 25 years, and high blood pressure, also controlled by medication. I exercise, a lot, biking 30-50 miles a week. How freaked out should I be about this? Do I need to see neurologist? Primary doc just says you re good.

As for this age patient who is diabetic and hypertensive and hypercholestremia and on medicines, with no other apparent symptoms this is quite a common finding, you need not panic as you don't have any apparent symptoms due to this finding, I would suggest you however to start practising yoga, meditation and suryanamaskar as this may help with circulation to your brain and stop any other ischaemic areas to develop. I hope I helped you by answering your concern
