Is Microbid Recommended For Recurring UTI And Severe Pain?
I have had a urinary track infection for 3 weeks. I finished one round of anitbiotics - Cipro 500 2 times day for 10 days. Got better, but 4th day after finishing antibiotics, infection returned. This time doctor put me on Microbid 100mg 2x day. This is my second day and pain is getting worse and I can still see white particles in my urine. Do you think Microbid 100mg is strong enough?
Hi, I doubt if it will work well. This is used more for a long term treatment, and it looks like you could be having a severe UTI. In fact, I suggest you give a sample for complete urine examination, and a sample for urine culture and sensitivity, following which the drugs may be modified if it is required. You also might need other tests like CBP, serum creatinine, and an ultrasound of KUB. You can also be started on drugs like citrate syrup 10-15ml diluted with water three times daily, and maybe a drug like flavoxate to reduce bladder pain at 200mg thrice daily. Hope you get well soon.
