Is Metoprolol Safe When Diagnosed With High BP?

Hi, my doctor has prescribed metoprolol for me to treat high blood pressure. I am a 64 year old man. I have low sodium levels in my body. this may have been caused by the 40 MG of Lisiniprol I was on every day. stopped taking Lisinopril recently. I also take thiothixene generic Navane for a mental condition. been taking thioixene for about 40 years, 2 MG per day. can I safely take 25 MG of Metoprlol per day ?

Hello, Thanks for the query.
I have gone through the details. The drug metoprolol is an effective and fairly safe selective betablocker for hypertension. Usual dose is 100 mg in 2 or 3 divided doses. It can be given up to 450 mg per day.
Considering that 25 mg per day should be no problem at all. But at that dose whether desired BP reduction will occur or not has to be observed. Thanks.
