Is Masturbation Advisabel While Treating An UTI With Ciprofloxacin?
hi i am a male 24 y/o and i have a mild painless UTI I was prescribed ciproflox 500mg for a 7 day course it is day 4 now and the only symptom i had which is urgency is only slightly reduced (although the rate urgency seems to increase at night) so im wondering if the antibiotic isn t fully working and/or should i book a followup before the course is complete as well i would like to know if it is safe to masturbate during this period since i have no discomfort other than urgency

I understand your concern
Better to avoid the masturbation during the treatment of UTI.
As it increase the treatment and duration.
You should repeat the test after finishing the treatment.
It will resolves slowly with in 7-10 days.
If not resolves, better to go for urine culture and sensitivity that tell about the specific antibody against the organism that cause infection.
Along with antibiotic take following advises:
use tablet nitrozolium and syrup cital.
Drink plenty of fluids and juice of cranberry, orange and pine apple.
Maintain the pelvic hygiene.
Always the empty bladder completely and do not delay in empty the bladder.

As such masturbation is not contraindicated in UTI. You can have it if you feel.

1. Continue with ciprofloxacin 500 mg every 12 hours per oral for 7 days
2. Syrup alkaline citrate 2 teaspoonful three times daily for 7 days
3. Drink plenty of water to flush out bacteria
4. Do not hold your urine. Urinate when you feel
