Is Malanocyte Transplant Effective Treatment For Lucoderma?

Dear Doctor,
My daughter is sufferring from lucoderma. I have tried almost all types of treatment except malanocyte transplant. Please answer me honestly, if there is any treatment for this problem.
Whether malanocyte transplant may be the solution, should i try for it.
Thanks & regards

Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

Various treatment options are available for treatment of Vitiligo / leucoderma.
While medical treatment is the mainstay of treatment surgical treatment options may be the only option in resistant white patches.
Surgical treatment can be combined with medical treatment.
The basic requirement for surgical treatment is that the patches should be stable i.e should not have changed/ increased in size or number for at least 1 year.
Surgical treatment options include punch grafting, suction blister grafting, autologus melanocyte culture and transplantation, split skin thickness grafting etc.
The aim of treatment with surgical modalities is to harvest functionally active melanocytes from normal skin and transplanting them to melanocyte depleted vitiligo patches.
The goal of treatment is to achieve natural pigment at the site of transplantation.
I suggest that you visit a dermatologist in your region for the needful.

Regards
