Is Lump Under Skin In The Leg After A Fall Serious?
My son had fallen off a loading dock. He injured his shoulder and leg. His leg looked like it was just superficial. Although the wounds have healed, he now has a hard lump under the skin. He says it is not painful to the touch. What could that be, and should he get it checked?
Hello, I have studied your case and I think that this lump can be due to collection of blood under the skin. It can be caused by soft tissue trauma. It is a very common condition and you need not to be worried about this. This swelling will be going to reduced in two to three weeks. I will offer your son following suggestions. 1. He should apply warm water over this lump. 2. After that he should apply compression bandage. 3. He should take Brufen tablet for pain and swelling and a broad spectrum antibiotic like Amoxiclav to make sure that this hematoma should not get infected. I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if there is any other followup question. Thanks.
