Is Lump In Jawline Cancerous?

Yesterday I notice a small movable lump under my jaw line. It's sore and I'm concerned. It moves when I press on it and I wonder if it could be cancerous. I work long hours throughout the week and may not be able to see a doctor for a few weeks.

Should I be concerned?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain a sore movable lump under the jawline seems to be due to swollen and inflamed submandibular lymph node and occurs commonly due to infection in Head and neck area..

It can be due to causes like:

1. Any prevailing or recurring infections on facial structures like ear, throat, nose, teeth, salivary glands, teeth and gums etc or at times infections of distant body parts may cause secondary infection and swelling in distant lymph nodes..
2.Any long standing debilitating diseases..
3.Wisdom tooth eruption or infection of the gum flap over wisdom tooth..

I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and he can do a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis..
He can also advise you a Biopsy or FNAC of the nodes to confirm the diagnosis..

In case of infection antibiotics like Amoxicillin and Anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen can help..
Along with it doing alternate warm and cool compresses can help..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
