Is Lowered Progesterone Dosage The Cause For Heavy Vaginal Bleeding?

I am 51 years old, and have been in menopause for 2 years, meaning no menstruation for 2 years. I am having a very heavy flow period for the last 3 days, kind of out of the blue. What the heck is going on? I am on hormones, estrogen and progesterone, and my progesterone Rx recently changed, down to a lower dose. Could that be the cause?

Hi and welcome to ehealthdesk
I'm Dr. Taimur and I will be addressing your health concerns.
I have read your question and understand your concern.
Heavy bleeding in women of your age could be because of hormones intake or some Genital tract disease. As you are on hormonal therapy so it seems like to be because of it. It will be better to continue your old treatment and consult your gyanocologist to get properly examined and investigated especially for any Genital tract malignancy.
I hope this might be of some help, if you have any query feel free to ask me any time.
Thanks.
Dr. Taimur
