Hi,

I noted the history of taking too much Ibuprofen for diverticulitis, pain in the lower left side of abdomen for about a month, wants to know how long will it take...As per the short history you have provided, Ibuprofen is not the drug of choice in Diverticulitis and give upper abdominal pain like that of acidity, gastritis and GERD, not the lower one. The commonest cause of lower left abdominal pain is diverticulitis with its complications as you are a known case of diverticulitis. Hence I would advise you the following:Get a CT scan of the abdomen done and colonoscopy to know the exact cause of pain in left lower abdomen and if inflammation.

is present you need a proper course of an antibiotic and metronidazole along with probiotics, diet control and so on.Do not blame Ibuprofen as it can not cause such a pain in the lower abdomen. There can be other problems too.Get a clinical evaluation, examination and further investigations under

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assit you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant
