Is Low Amount Of HCG And Lightheadedness Sign Of Pregnancy?

My last period was February 3,4,5,6,7. I am 40 years of age, and average a period every 28 days. My fertility window would be between Feb 12 through 18th. Ovulating the 17th. My significant other and I had sex on Feb. 22, 28th, and March 9th. I had a positive over the counter pregnancy stick test on Mon. March 7th, 2011. My symptoms have been severe light-headed-ness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting. The 10th and 11th of March I spotted lightly. the 12th and 13th I bled for two days. It was slow to medium, but NO clotting, NO cramping. (It did not seem like the "Open the flood gates" type of period that I would have normally experienced. So I can't be sure that I had a period. I don't believe that constitutes a period! (My OB's nurse suspected a Went for a blood test yesterday at 1:30 p.m., and was told that HCG is present in my system but not strong enough to sustain a pregnancy. My concerns are these: Is it possible for the HCG to become stronger, or have I indeed miscarried? WHY am I still craving ice cream and pickles, and hating chocolate? Why am I still lightheaded? Should I chalk up the two days of bleeding as a period? If I miscarried, wouldn't the HCG be gone?

Hi there, I have understood your concern. I will suggest you the best best possible treatment options .

1 ) First of all do not panic.

2 ) As you had sex activity well beyond and after the fertile period of the cycle, chances of getting pregnant are almost nil.

3 ) It would have been better if you had your HCG levels mentioned in the query.

Usually, levels less than 5 indicate non pregnant condition and above 25 confirms the pregnancy.

In case of doubt, you can repeat the HCG levels after 3 days. Doubling of the value indicates growing pregnancy.
I will suggest you to get USG done. This will help to know viable intra uterine pregnancy, and will help to rule out the ectopic pregnancy- implantation of pregnancy outside uterus , like in the fallopian tubes or on the ovaries.

4 ) Negative HCG test and USG will suggest that it could be just chemical pregnancy, meaning very early but non continuing pregnancy.

5 ) If you are not planning for pregnancy, please get proper sex counselling done. Use of suitable contraceptive method like condom will help to prevent unwanted pregnancy and STDs.

I hope this answer helps you. Thanks.
