Is Long Term Use Of Pan D Advisable?

I have been taking Pan D since last three year and it keeps my stomach very well , means no gas no indigestion and gives good feeling. So far no adverse effect observed , I stopped now but started gas problem even with empty stomach , can I continue taking it again , is there any other probable health hazard due to prolonged use of Pan D. In short can I start taking it once again without fear ??? Does - 1 capsule empty stomach every morning with three glass of water.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for coming to HCM
Long term use of pantoprazole has not proved to cause much harm, though some studies have shown to cause dementia.
I would suggest you to try to take food that less spicy and less oily.
Some studies have also shown that antacids like ranitidine has good effects in long term use.
It would be at you best to start on antacids which would give you the same benefit if taken twice a day.

Hope I was able to answer to your query
