Is Liver Transplantation Required If Having Chirrosis And Ascites?

Hello doctor, a relative is suffering from pitting pedal oedema with itching and inflamation and the sight is horrible. He is also suffereing from liver chirrosis and something called ascites. He is 43 years old. So can he become stable again just by medications or does he necessarily needs to get a liver transplant ?

Hi welcome to HCM...

Noted you are having cirrhosis....
You might have portal hypertension secondary to cirrhosis....
Get your spleen palpated....
For edema take diuretic drug ....
Low salt diet taken....

Ultimate treatment is liver transplantation but decision taken according to severity.
It is needed when impeding severe liver failure....
It is costly....
If not possible then for portal hypertension TIPSS like less invasive procedure done...

Carrot, Indian gooseberry , spinach ,,avocados , dandelion , lemon are some good foods for liver....

Take care.

Consult gastroentetologist with keeping this in mind.
