Is Liposuction A Good And Safe Option To Reduce Thigh And Lower Belly Fat?

I m 27 yrs women weighing 55 kgs & height of 4 10. BMI seems to be high. Good Health but I have apparently visible high fat deposits at thighs and lower belly not in other areas and its been difficult on spot reduction through exercises/diets. I want to know whether liposuction is a good & safe option to lipodissolve (let me know pros & cons of both). Request you to suggest the best treatment and good medical consultant to carry out any of these treatments at an affordable cost. I stay at Bangalore.

Hi, thanks for posting your concern in the HCM.
Yes, your BMI is slightly higher at this point of time. But, I don't think you would urgently need a surgical procedure for weight reduction.
My understanding is you have central adiposity. Check whether your waist circumference is more than 90 cm.
I think, you should stick to lifestyle modification and dietary restriction for weight reduction.
You also need to have a few tests done to rule out any underlying cause that might have precipitated insulin resistance and central obesity,and/or dyslipidemia, e.g. Fasting TSH, Fasting plasma glucose, HbA1c, Fasting lipid profile, Fasting LFT. If you are having irregular periods, you should also have a ultrasound scan of lower abdomen to rule out PCOS.
For the time being my recommendations are-
1. Exercise for 45 min/day
2. Salt restricted (3. Avoid spices, junk foods, carbonated beverages, alcohol.
4. Consult a local endocrinologist to rule out an underlying problem.
Regarding lipodissolve, I would say this is not recommended by US FDA and hence I wouldnot advice this to any one for weight reduction.
Regarding liposuction, patient selection is crucial for this. Liposuction is reserved for patients who are healthy and without significant illnesses. It carries several risks including Deep vein thrombosis, cardiac and pulmonary complications, risks associated with anaesthesia, infection, volume overload etc. Also, you will need to be on diet modification and exercise for long-term maintenance of benefit.
Now, as I have told you the options and there pros and cons it is your decision to opt for a method and then you need to visit a doctor depending upon the treatment you want.

Hope you are satisfied with my answer. If you have any further query related to this, please write back.
