Is Leprosy Hereditary?

Sir my sis wants to get married wid the guy whose grandpa is having leprosy white spots on most of d part of his body so is it so leprosy is hereditary how i will suppose to know that it is not n so want to know everythg regarding leprosy white spots . plz sir reply as soon as possible.

White spots may be due to leprosy but there are many skin conditions that can cause white spots other than Leprosy . So are you sure that he has Leprosy ?
Coming to your question Leprosy is due to infection and not hereditary . It can get transmitted from person to person by close physical contact .

If you need to know then he has to be tested ( Grandpa ). You need to do a split skin smear and look for Lepra bacilli. What I mean to say is unless you do a formal testing you wont come to know if it's leprosy or not .

But one clue is there will be loss of sensation over the white spots so you can test by pricking with a pin over the white spots .
