Is Leg Tightness And Swelling Due To Excessive Weight Gain?

Both of my legs feel tight and yet the left leg seems a bit swollen. Even the left foot looks a tad bit more swollen then the right. Not a big difference but it is there. I am 47 years old and female. My thyroid was checked about 3 months ago and was 6.10. They said it was sub clinical. I am taking no meds for it. My socks also leave indents around my ankles. I do sit alot without much exercise. I have also gained about 16 pounds in the last year. Could this be the problem.

Hi
Welcome to healthcare magic.
The differential swelling on two limbs is an important finding.
The difference may be due to a clot in the veins of legs.
The condition is called deep vein thrombosis and is dangerous and must be treated urgently.
Other reasons for lower limb swelling can be due to hypothyroidism, poor kidney functions or congestive cardiac failure.
Chronic anemia may also lead to such swelling.
In Any case you should be examined by a local clinician and get a Doppler study of both lower limbs, get D dimer values, renal functin, ECG and ECHO to make sure of he diagnosis.
I hope the advise will be helpful for you.
