Is Leaking Milk From Breasts After Stopping Breastfeeding Normal?

Is it normal for me to be leaking milk from my breasts when I haven t breast fed my daughter in 16 months? I have the Mirena IUD so I don t think I m pregnant. But there was a broken condom a month ago. What should I do? Is it possible I m pregnant or am I just leaking for no reason?

Hello,
If you stopped lactating so many months ago, you should not be leaking breast milk again. Sometimes, breast secretion can be seen during the ovulation stage of the menstrual cycle. Ovulation is usually suppressed with Mirena IUD but on the benefit of doubt, you should watch for signs and symptoms of pregnancy and if you happen to menstruate regularly, watch for a missed period. You can also go for a blood test for pregnancy two weeks after the intercourse. Hope this helps.
