Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a heart patient whereby five years ago i had a valve replacement surgery. Ever since i am on nicoumalone tablets (blood thinning). Apparently, i have developed a knee problem and need to undergo a knee replacement surgery. Therefore i need advice if it is risky to uder go the knee replacement surgery in regards 2 my heart problem (thin blood issue)? or is it a safe procedure? Please advice.
Hi, First i would ask you to consult your cardiologist, he would check you current cardiac status, and would also advice an stress EKG. With every report normal, he would modify your drugs prior to surgery. With minor bleeding risks, your knee surgery can be performed.
Regards
