Hi, I m interested in receiving medication for my lifelong anxiety problem. This isn t your run of the mill anxiety because of a long line type problem but one that causes my heart to fluctuate and often enough, black outs. I ve been diagnosed as having social anxiety with agoraphobia. Even though depression hasn t been an issue for me, I ve been prescribed SSRI s time and time again. I ve also been prescribed klonopin, with no results along with the SSRI s. It seems as though most doctors around my area NJ love to push SSRI s. I personally have taken Xanax a handful of times with beneficial results. I want to see a psychiatrist as I m sure my family doctor would be hesitant to prescribe this medicine because of his conservative and safe manner. How much would a visit to a psychiatrist be? And why do many of you doctors lump all of your patients in the same drug seeking category when statistics obviously show otherwise, that not everyone has the same inclination towards abuse? Thank you.
