Is Itchy, Hot Forearms With Swelling The Possible Allergic Reaction For Aspirin?

I am a 46 year old female. Had a stroke due to hole in heart and was given tpa and had full recovery. I have been taking 81mg aspirin everyday for a year now. Tonight after taking aspirin my forearms became itchy and I noticed they felt hot and swollen. Could this be an allergic reaction to the aspirin? Is taking omega an alternative to aspirin?

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this swollen and itchy arms. It is very unlikely that this is an allergic reaction to aspirin. also, you have been taking this drug for a year now and have never had any problems, so i will not want to think it is this drug.

The symptoms resemble an allergic reaction but the cause is still to be identified. Please, try to find out if there is anything new you took. This may be the likely origin and not a drug that you have been taking for a year already.

Omega is not an alternative for aspirin. Aspirin prevent blood clots while omega protects the blood vessels and heart.

I hope you find the above information helpful.I wish you we. Thank you so much for using our services and please feel free to ask for more clarifications and information if need be.
Thanks.
