Is It To Be Concerned If Sleep Paralysis Occur Frequently?

hello, i have suffered from sleep paralysis for 20 years, usually occuring 2 to 3 times a year. It has increased signifinetly over the past 6 months to a couple times a week. My question is should i go to a sleep clinic and try and figure out how to stop this? Everything I have read says it is not dangerous, but is the most frightening thing to experience. It feels as if I have woken up from a nap, hearing and knowing where i am, but being unable to move or speak. Or so I thought, My daughter heard me moaning and came into my room and said I was moving slightly and whispering help me which in my head, I was screaming and trying everything to get my body to move. When I do come out of it, I am dissorriented and scared, with a pounding headache.

Neurologist 's  Response
A sleep study may be helpful to look for certain types of sleep disorders you may be suffering from, however, strictly from your description you may also benefit from other types of testing such as an EEG. I suggest you find a neurologist who can help get a more conjoined history to see if you are suffering from other forms of parasomnias such as nightmares, etc. You may write to me at: www.bit.ly/drdariushsaghafi with more questions. Please rate this a 5 STAR ENCOUNTER.
