Is It To Be Concerned About Child Swallowing Floor Cleaner?

Hi I m worried that my 18 month old son might have swallowed some dettol surface cleanser - the non bleach one - I was spraying down his changing matt, cott while he was asleep on my bed and went to answer the phone when it rang and then put on some lunch when I returned to the room I found my son up and awake walking around with the dettol spray which I hadn t turned to the off position. he seems to be fine and has since eaten all his lunch - are there any symptoms I should be looking out for or should I take him to the GP

HI...the usual symptoms in such cases will be -

1. Fast breathing
2. Respirator distress
3. Vomiting
4. Inability to feed.

Usually these symptoms appear 6 hours after the ingestion of the substance.

If these appear rush him to the nearest emergency room.

Regards - Dr. Sumanth
