Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is It Suggestible To Use PantoPac For Peptic Ulcers?
I think I have a peptic ulcer. I have been taking omeprazole, which has been very helpful, but it does not completely solve the problem. So I found some info about PantoPac. Is it very expensive to have for 1 week ? Can you prescribe me the PantoPac for a 1 week treatment ?
Pantopac is a combination of antibiotics like Amoxycillin and clarithromycin with pantoprazole. Since you are not sure about the H pylori infection so In my opinion you should not pantopac with with an upper GI endoscopy and biopsy suggestive of H pylori infection. Pantopac is given for H pylori infection.
As you are getting some relief with omperazole so I would advise you to continue with omperazole and in addition to it you can take antacids or sucralfate syrup. In my opinion you should follow these guidelines in addition to taking drugs.
You should avoid fatty fried spicy and junk food and carbonated beverages. No smoking and drinking. Have lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and lots of water to maintain good hydration.
Hope this answers your question please feel free to ask for follow up question. I will gladly answer you.
Best wishes, Dr. BR Hudda
