Is It Suggestible To Take Diuretics For Swelling Leg After Bypass Surgery?

Hi-My husband had a quadruple bypass 2 weeks ago. His left leg where the veins were harvested started swelling after the first week and after we had started walking 5 min 3 times a day. He took diuretics to help but they caused a gout attack. Are there any natural ways to reduce the swelling?

It is likely from venous obstruction or insufficiency - may benefit from graduated compression stockings…
At times it is from heart failure – when diuretics help
Loop diuretics are less likely to precipitate gout
