Is It Serious If Having Upper Abdominal Pain And Bloating And Having No Relief From Antacids?

I have had pain in my upper abdomen for about 10 hours now.(severe enough I cannot sleep) I have also noticed that my belly is getting very bloated. I have tried taking antacids but they are bringing me no relief. Do I need to go to the hospital or is this something that can wait til morning?

Hi,

I understand your concern.

Pain in your upper abdomen and getting very bloated could be due to stomach issues or bowel problems.

I highly recommend to:
- see a gastroenterologist
- run upper endoscopy
- get a stool examination done
- run abdominal ultrasound

to determine the right diagnosis.

Until you see your gastroenterologist tomorrow, I advise to take:
- lemon soda
- simethicone with carbone to ease the bloating
- probiotics to stabilize intestinal flora
- avoid foods that would increase bloating

If they won't help until tomorrow, then, should go to ER.

All the best.
