Is It Safe To Use Regesterone To Postpone Periods?

hi Dr. Matt my monthly periods are generally prolonged, first few days it is spotting and then the general bleeding goes on for about 6 days. my feb month periods are due for 28 but i need to postpone that till 3 of march. so my doctor prescribed Regesterone 5 mg for 7 days (from 25 of feb to 3 march ). my query is that is it safe to use ? will it still worsen my regular periods or make it much better. am much worried about this issue as my regular periods as of now are not proper, in sense prolonged due to initial few days of spotting. so i cannot afford to worsen it any more. could you please clarify these 2 queries thanks

Hello,

1) Yes, you can take Regesterone 3 days prior to due date and up to 7 days as per your doctor's prescription. It is quite safe.

2) You will get a withdrawal bleeding within 5 to 7 days of stopping the pills. Hope fully, they can act as period inducer.

Good luck.
