Silver sulphadiazine - has an excellent spectrum of activity, low toxicity, and ease of application with minimal pain. 2. Cerium nitrate-Povidone iodine - enhanced clinical efficacy. 3. Silver nitrate solution 0.5 % - is a broad-spectrum agent, bacteriostatic at a concentration of 0.5%. It is effective in prophylactic use. 4. Nitrofurazone - is used topically as adjunctive therapy. 5. Chlorhexidine - 1 % chlorhexidine digluconate to 1 % silver sulphadiazine increases the agent s antibacterial effectiveness. Hence, from the above treatment options available, you can choose to wash the burn site with chlorhexidine and then apply either Silver nitrate or Silver sulphadiazine on it until it dries completely.
