Is It Safe To Use Cefuroxime Axetil For Bronchitis?

50I am currently taking 4mg of warfarin sodium once a day, 25mg of metroprolol tartrate twice a day. I have developed bronchitis and was prescribed 250mg ofcefuroxime axetil twice a day. I seem to have problems keeping my inr at the rate of 2.5 and my doctor keeps increasing or decreasing my warfarin dosage. my wife seems concerned about my taking the drug for bronchitis, but I am telling her that I am going for inr blood tests on a regular basis and my doctors and my pharmacist is aware of the situation. can you please advise my wife that I am doing the right thing. thank you.

Hi, i do care for your concern.
First thing to know is warfarin is a enzyme potent enzyme inducer, which means the drug interact with liver enzymes as same as the antibiotic which you are taking.
Depending on the dosage the INR values differ greatly.
It is highly advisable to monitor the INR values regularly and to alter the dosage according to it, so as to prevent the coagulation of blood.
So kindly note that what being done is correct, and should be supported.
Take care.
