Is It Safe To Take Steroids During Pregnancy?

hello iam 34week pregnant before 2 months ago i was admitted to hospital due to bleeding(placenta previa) now my doctor advised me to take two doses of steroid injection at the interval of 12 hours. as it is safe and how early is it to safe to deliver baby during pregnancy,

Hello dear,I understand your concern.In my opinion if there is a suspicion of delivery before 37 weeks ie.,preterm then two doses of steroid injection are given for lung maturity of fetus. As you have placenta praevia and if the bleeding recurs hampering yours and baby s condition then delivery might be planned as soon as possible.But if there is no bleeding and you and the fetus are stable then pregnancy is continued till term ie.,37 weeks.It is always better to do the delivery after 37 weeks but in inevitable conditions delivery might be done before.Dont worry steriod injections are safe.Take strict bed rest and avoid physical strain and intercourse.
