Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is It Safe To Take Phentermine After Gallbladder Removal?
I had my gallbladder removed about 2 weeks ago, and have found that my appetite has increased and I am eating constantly. I have already gained about 5 pounds. I have a prescription for phentermine, and I'm wondering if it is safe to start taking it again.
It sounds like your gallbladder removal went quite well, as you're likely eating without any pain! That's great news. Your weight gain is probably something you did not want, so the best thing here is to evaluate your eating habits and adjust your diet. It is safe for you to take phentermine, however, I'm not a big fan of using phentermine for weight loss.
I don't mean to preach to you, but the effects of phentermine may help you to lose a few pounds, but adjusting your lifestyle and eating habits will have positive effects on your health that will last a lifetime. I'd recommend at least 30 minutes of exercise each day if you can, as opposed to taking phentermine.
But to answer your question, yes it's safe to resume all of your home medications at this point as related to your gallbladder surgery.
I hope I have answered your questions. Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions or if you feel I haven't addressed your question adequately.
