Is It Safe To Take Beer While Under Treatment For Blood Clots?

My husband just started coumadin on last friday due to 2 blood clots in one leg and one large and 2 small clots on his lungs. No one knows whay he had the clots. He just came home yesterday from ICU and thinks it is ok to have a beer a day? What do you say?

Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Beer does not have any specific effect on action of coumadin.
2. However, in large doses, it can depress central nervous system resulting in extended rest, which can increase the risk of thrombus formation.
3. Single beer wont be a problem, however, if its more, it could complicate things.
